Everyone can be a Graphic Designer
I didn’t know that this thing that I’ve been doing for so long as a hobby actually has a term, and a whole course in fact! Maybe at the back of my mind, I know that it is what it is, I just refused to believe I’m doing it.. it is Graphic Design all along!
Coincidentally, I just started a business - Moonlippy Creative Studio. This time, it’s real! Like I’m registered now as opposed to what I had 8 years ago. It’s surreal actually just looking at the business docs and everything. I didn’t know I could do something like this. But here we are!
About more than 20 years ago, I took Computer Science as my university course because I knew I wanted to design and create websites as a profession. Life just took me to a different direction (that is Java), which I then equally loved. I kept my design desires alive by pursuing blogging, and eventually designing my blog pages. It lead into something more once I got hold of credit cards and these software toolkits available now. Even leveled up once I got my hands on those tablets/devices with a stylus. I had always been insecure about what I can do, but eventually I got more confident as time goes by.
So this book that I just read gave me hope that this hobby of mine can truly be something more.
I super enjoyed reading this book. The book lived to its theme of Graphic design. The details are entertaining and it’s a joy flipping the pages back and forth to go through the wonderful pictures and design elements.
There have been moments in my creative life where I’m trying to define what I’m doing. And it’s quite overwhelming at times. Everything finally made sense after reading this book. It organized all those components floating around my mind into a structured content.
In my corporate life, I live structure. I convert chaos into a beautiful organized thingy to deliver results. This is nothing different to Graphic Design, as told by this book. It somewhat organized your artful thoughts into something that translates into a creative project for you to execute. Once “project” was involved, that turns my gear. It’s my show! My confidence is back.
I am excited at what the future brings.
