First Lux is the Deepest
I just bought my first Prada. And this is not just my first Prada, it's actually my first luxury-designer buy. I'm sort of a late bloomer. I spent my money to parties back when I was younger. I don't regret it but I didn't get any remembrance of them either. I remember the days when I had no idea about designer stuff. I even thought that LVs cost 4000 PESOS! The LV I wanted costs about the same figure... it's just not in pesos!
America kind of changed me. I realized that I wanted one when I re-watched SATC and Gossip Girl again (I re-watch a lot of times). Plus, I see ladies in our office who wore designer bags a lot. Every time I see them, I always thought I wanted one!! The Prada shopping at Saks is a wonderful experience. The sales guy was really really nice to me. I know it's all about commissions, but compared to that sales guy in Vegas, my Prada guy was really good. Or maybe this is just Texas, everybody's kind and friendly.
Prada guy asked me if this is my first Prada, and I told him, yes.. And it's actually my first ever luxury brand. And he was like, oh my gosh, this is so special you have to know everything about this bag. It's good to hear someone talk about Prada with passion. So he told me about the history of the houses - Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada. (I hope I'm remembering this correctly) Back in 1920ish or less, these houses only make luggages. Mario Prada, the founder, was very fond of making luggages and he makes it with pure quality and love (that love part was just from my vocabulary). And sometime in the middle of that year or later, the royal family was so impressed with the quality of Prada luggages that they chose Prada to be their Royal sponsor of luggages. And that was the start of it.
Mario's daughter, Miuccia (nicknamed Miu Miu), now runs the Prada show. She also started her own brand after her nickname to just have a brand of her own.
Saffiano, the name of the leather, is sort of a bragging right. A lot of brands copy that leather (and I do have some of it). Mentioned Fendi, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, etc.. But nobody could get this same texture. I couldn't comment because I loved my MK bags. But yeah, there's some difference with the texture. Most Prada bags are using gold hardware, just because gold is Miuccia's favorite. And here's my favorite part. The nylon inside is made of the same nylon material used by the Italian(?) soldiers, as trenchcoats, during the world war.
And to make it a little special for me, I chose Turchese since this is Prada's color of the year!
