Old Man's War

I was hooked from the very first sentence. The experience reading the book was like giving life to my Helldivers Character. In fact, I thought I heard the Helldivers Theme when the "Welcome to CDF thingy.." was blurted out.

There was a comedic approach to it, how exciting it was as they prepare for war. Until it became serious in a bit as it slowly entered another territory - I imagined the war they're in as another Band of Brothers universe.

There are still a lot of funny moments throughout. The dialogue was simple, I thought it was funny when he broke down on the 1-inch people they had to kill.

I immediately thought about the Battle of the Bulge for the Coral war.. it was all fun and witty at the start, and at first I was hoping they'd all survive.

The graphical description and narration of Perry's "death" was just mad, I was at the edge of my seat.

I was heartbroken picturing Alan's last moments, jokingly talking to Perry, and his last words just made me cryyy.

I cryyy

This scene hit me the most that I wasn't really able to process and feel good about Kathy "coming back".

I bet the movie will have some love scene, I felt creeped out by the idea. And I was relieved they didn't have to make love in the book. But I thought, they're not humans anymore, and after all they've done and/or what was done to them body-wise, ethics have probably gone out of the door.

Maybe I should have paused a bit and processed Alan's death for a little more days before diving back in, to fully enjoy the rest.

Regardless, the storytelling was superb that it was not that hard to imagine their world. I could visualize everything and I super enjoy it. The sprint to the finish was like a video game sprint to "the boss".

The ending was satisfying.
